A French 1930s art deco pendant light in nickel plated bronze or solid brass holding a very rare bowl in frosted molded-pressed glass. In a dark not very bright pink color. This bowl was made by the Etablissements Jean Gauthier. It is signed EJG on the rim. In its design it looks very much like an Ezan shade and hardly like a EJG or J. Robert signed one. Most likely created around 1929-1930 just after Gauthier opened his large factories in Ezanville

The pendant light is in excellent condition. I have re-nickeled and patinated the mount. The chandelier has a total height of 55 cm (21,65") and the bowl is 35 cm wide (13,78 inches). I can shorten the fixture on request. The lamp is rewired and holds an American standard socket.

Jean Gauthier had his first workshop at 12-14 rue Jean Robert in Paris and later expended with factories in the town of Ezanville. In the early days just after the first world war Gauthier made cameo shades that were sometimes signed Gauthier. The plants in Ezanville were opened for the production of art deco glassware in molded-pressed glass. Many art deco models are unsigned. Some are signed EJG for Etablissements Jean Gauthier. Others are signed J.Robert pseudonym for J. Gauthier based on the street name of the first workshop. In the 30s Gauthier started a line of shades done in opalescent semi-crystal, mainly cups. Some models are unsigned. Others are signed EZAN France, signature for Gauthier based on the city of the second plant. See less
