Antique square oak parlor, lamp, or occasional table dating to the early 20th century. The design combines a substantial square top, deeply turned legs, a repeating carved scroll-and-foliate apron, and a practical lower shelf. The warm, aged oak and architectural proportions give the table a strong traditional or Jacobean Revival character.
The table measures 29.5 inches high by 23.75 inches wide and deep. Its ¾-inch-thick top provides a substantial presence, while the lower shelf offers additional display or storage space. A faint “243” marking appears on the underside; its meaning is unknown. No manufacturer’s label or other identifying mark was found, and no specific maker is being attributed.
The table is in fair antique condition with extensive surface wear. The top has pronounced finish loss, discoloration, water or moisture-related staining, scratches, a visible separation between boards, and an older rectangular area of disturbance or possible repair. The lower shelf has finish wear, scratches, and a small area of surface loss. Wear and rubbing are also visible on the legs and carved apron. Green paint marks are present beneath the top. The table remains standing and usable, but it is best suited to a buyer who appreciates an authentic, heavily aged surface or intends to have the piece conserved or refinished. Please review all photographs carefully.
A complementary antique round oak barley-twist table is offered separately by this seller.
