Cute attack! Just how much fun can we have in the antiques realm?
This cast iron stove-lamp takes the title for both fun and cute!
As you can see, the doors in front, including those for warming bread (or whatever) at the top, all open!. The "wings" -- those platforms for holding bowls or whatever's needed, add five full inches to the width when they're in play. They can be easily removed by just swinging then up and off.
Both sides of the stovepipe, which is made of brass, have stress cracks, the result of age. The cracks at this point won't get larger and they in no way whatsoever impact the stability of any aspect of the lamp.
All cast iron --top quality and definition --with a lovely brass/bronze patina, in great condition. The name DANCAST (hard to read, that's a guess) appears on the back, above the cord exit.
This was most likely a lamp from its inception, as the cord exits the back in a "professional" (or original) manner -- the little ring around the exit hole tells us that. Twist the small knurled nut and you can raise or lower the apparatus which holds the socket and harp and finial. Speaking of that finial, what a treasure! How many "teapot finials" have you ever seen on a lamp!!!?
I'm leaving it up to the buyer to purchase a shade that fits their decor best -- whether it's paper, fabric, white, cream-colored, black... too many choices for me to make that decision, as it won't be in MY kitchen! A shade would increase the shipping costs, too.
Use any wattage bulb you want, no problem. The cord seems to be original, and it's age-stiff, but it functions just fine and "if it ain't broke, why fix it?" A new plug has been installed.
