Circa 1900 oil on canvas by Frederick Ballard Williams of a Spring Landscape. Williams, American, 1871-1956. Oil on canvas laid down on artist board. Signed lower left. In many museum collections. Provenance: Duncan Connelly Fine Art, Atlanta & Marshall Field & Co, June 11, 1941. Both attached en verso. Noted for these Tonalist, American Barbizon works around 1900. Rich earth tones, dashes of light, a clearing to survey the New England countryside. Exhibition carved, giltwood frame with edge losses. Canvas: 16" x 24".
