A magnificent and generously sized French Art Deco cameo glass vase by Degué, the illustrious glassworks founded by David Guéron in Paris during the 1920s. Guéron’s Cristalleries de Compiègne was renowned for rivaling the great glasshouses of Daum and Muller Frères, and this piece is a striking testament to that legacy.
This baluster-form vase showcases exceptional craftsmanship, featuring a brilliantly executed acid-etched cameo technique. The design boasts a bold, stylized botanical motif—transitional in style, bridging the organic fluidity of late Art Nouveau with the structured geometry of the Art Deco movement.
The vase is constructed from cased glass, where a deep, rich ruby red and burgundy layer is meticulously etched away to reveal a translucent, softly frosted pink-peach ground. This creates a dramatic, high-contrast relief that catches the light beautifully, making the vibrant floral bloom and sweeping leaves appear to glow from within.
