A silver plate pickle caster by James Tufts with an Aesthetic Movement bamboo design.
The set features a raised base with a paisley-embossed band that holds a pressed clear glass jar. Supported by four bamboo-style silver-plated legs, the frame includes a matching silver-plated lid for the jar. While two built-in hooks are present to hold tongs, the original tongs are missing.
A stamped mark on the base reads JAMES W. TUFTS BOSTON TRIPLE PLATE WARRANTED. These words circle a 4-pointed star with the letter T inside.
MEASUREMENTS
Frame – 5 in (12.7 cm) wide x 3 5/8 in (9.2 cm) deep x 10 ¾ in (27.3 cm) tall.
Jar (without lid) - 3 ¼ in (8.3 cm) diameter x 4 ¼ in (10.8 cm) tall
Weighs 1 lb 14.9 oz.
CONDITION
There are no breaks, cracks, dents or repair to either the frame or the jar. Most of the silver is gone to the frame, although the inside of the lid and the inside of the jar platform still have much silver. The set does not include any tongs.
A wonderful, character-rich addition for vintage silver-plate collectors—just add your own matching tongs to complete the set!
