The proportions are tall and … Read more 19th century rustic console table crafted in hardwood with squared legs that splay slightly outward. The proportions are tall and substantial, standing at 31 inches in height.
This table clearly served as a work surface earlier in its life, evidenced by multiple gouges, tool marks, scratches, stains and surface wear throughout the top. Reinforcement bolts were added at some point to strengthen the top, now contributing a subtle industrial character that contrasts nicely with the aged wood. Residual dried wormholes (no longer active) also add to the rustic appeal. Age related separation of the planks along the top.
Cracks, gouges, and surface irregularities are consistent with age and use and enhance its authentic vintage look. The table has been restored, is strong, stable, and ready for use. At 31 inches tall, it may also be cut down slightly if a buyer desires a lower profile.
