Rare California pottery ceramic Hula Girl Ashtray by Kaye of Hollywood/Katherine Schueftan. The ashtray features a female portrait with her hair forming the bowl of the ashtray. The sculpture features gold-painted accents with a gold hibiscus in her hair.
Kaye of Hollywood was a ceramic studio founded in North Hollywood in the early 1940s by Katherine (Kay) Schueftan. The company produced hand-decorated, whimsical figurines and figurative vases, with notable pieces including the "basket lady" vases, and Kay had previously worked as a decorator for Heidi Schoop
