This gorgeous antique boule de savon opaline box is absolutely the most lovely shade of blue; that iconic and oh-so-collectible … Read more This gorgeous antique boule de savon opaline box is absolutely the most lovely shade of blue; that iconic and oh-so-collectible pale opaline blue that just glows with that firey orange glow!! The piece is from the Napoleon III era (mid 1800's) and has been so beautifully hand-enameled in a delicate floral pattern. It seems to have been used as a soap dish, but now I've used it for matches and can add striker paper on the bottom (it is a sticker that is easily removed.) if you love that idea too! It looks stunning set out next to a favorite candle to keep those matches close at hand! Add your own matches and you're all set!!! The piece is in wonderful vintage condition with just a small chip on the interior rim (you can't see it when it's closed) and a bit of a residue in the interior bottom (again, probably from soap.) The underside of the bottom shows wear but this is almost 150 years old so keep that age in mind! It is French opaline, and it would be a lovely addition to any collection of colored glass! Gorgeous!
