A prime … Read more This striking mid-century modern ceramic penguin lantern was produced in West Germany by Carstens Tönnieshof during the 1960s. A prime example of the 'Fat Lava' era aesthetic, it features a wonderful contrast between the matte, charcoal-gray volcanic textured body and a vibrant, heavily incised geometric patterned orange-red belly. Cutouts for the eyes and a hollow interior allow it to function beautifully as a candle holder or lantern, casting a warm ambient glow. A highly collectible piece of West German Art Pottery (WGP) that serves as an excellent whimsical statement piece for any modern interior. See less
