French designer and architect jacques … Read more Modernist chrome-plated metal desk set by jacques adnet for compagnie des arts français, circa 1930. French designer and architect jacques adnet (1900-1984) trained at the école des arts décoratifs in paris. In 1928, he took over the management of compagnie des arts français, guiding it towards a refined modernism blending chrome-plated metal, glass, and parchment. In the 1950s, he became known for his leather-clad metal creations produced in collaboration with hermès. A major figure in art deco and later in post-war design, he notably decorated the apartments of president vincent auriol at the élysée palace. He then directed the école nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs until his death in 1984. Sold as a set (3 pieces). A rare set of desk accessories reflecting the modernist spirit of jacques adnet, created around 1930 for the prestigious compagnie des arts français. The set comprises three complementary pieces, all in chromed metal, characteristic of the minimalist industrial style favored by the designer during the interwar period: modernist chromed metal wastepaper basket, circa 1930.
