Gilded and lavishly ornamented, this Baroque mirror reflects the somewhat theatrical elegance of the Louis XV style. Its carved and stuccoed wooden frame is entirely covered in gold leaf, applied over a red primer that peeks through in places, giving the whole piece the warmth characteristic of antique items. The motifs that adorn it are typical of the Rococo style: generous scrolls, acanthus leaves, a shell at the top of the frame, and asymmetrical volutes that lend the mirror its lively and charming character. It rests on small, cabriole feet. A beautiful piece of artisan craftsmanship from the 1950s in the Louis XV style, this mirror will naturally find its place in an interior that appreciates beautiful, slightly patinated objects.
The mirror is antique and dates from the 1950s. The gilding shows signs of age—some flaking, slight whitish areas, and small losses here and there. The mirror is in good condition.
50 to 65cm wide, 86cm high, 4cm deep.
