A poetic expression of 18th-century romance, this exquisite Corbeille settee is a vision of faded grandeur.
With its gracefully undulating silhouette, signature low arms that sweep outward like wings, and elegant cabriole legs terminating in scrolled feet, this settee embodies the quintessential Louis XV Rococo form. The carved frame is adorned with delicate acanthus scrolls, floral garlands, and a central coquille shell crest – the hallmark of authentic French Rococo design.
What makes this piece truly exceptional is its magnificent time-worn patina. Layers of antique white paint reveal glimpses of soft verdigris, celadon green and gilding beneath, creating a complex, museum-like surface that cannot be replicated. Every crackle, chip and brushstroke tells a story. The frame has been newly upholstered in a fine, natural Belgian linen, providing a perfect neutral canvas that lets the sculpture of the wood shine.
A rare, sculptural settee ideal for a French country bedroom, a glamorous boudoir, the foot of a bed, or an entry foyer. It brings instant soul, history, and Parisian chic to any interior.
