This antique cabinet from France, often referred to as buffet à deux-corps (which is the name for a French buffet consisting of an upper and lower case, "deux" referencing the two parts) has an upper display section and a lower cupboard with enclosed storage. A molded cornice crowns the cabinet, lending balance and understated elegance. The upper section is fitted with a pair of glass panel doors enclosing interior shelving, ideal for displaying ceramics, glassware, or collectibles. The upper cabinet is recessed and rests above an open shelf or serving niche, supported by shaped side brackets. The lower cabinet houses two small drawers (fitted with brass ring pulls) above a pair of paneled cupboard doors that open to generous storage space. Iron hardware and traditional pegged construction details enhance the cabinet's authentic provincial character. The warm honey-toned wood has a rich patina, visible knots, and nice grain. Depth of top cabinet is 13.5 inches. The cabinet breaks down into two pieces, allowing for easier transport and installation.
