Restored 1950s blonde mahogany dining table with two leaf extensions by Brown Saltman. With a maximum length of over 100 inches it accommodates up to in10 guests in fully-expanded form.
The tabletop rests on an elegantly sculpted base and expands with an integrated gear mechanism, allowing one person to open and close it with ease.
The table is unmarked. Based on the Walter of Wabash extension slides, the gear mechanism, and the type of mahogany used, we're certain this table was produced by Brown Saltman. Additionally, it was acquired as part of a larger set of dining and living room pieces that were made by the company.
Although we've seen attributions to Paul Laszlo, we've been unable to definitively identify the designer. The inlaid grain patterns on the surface resemble other dining tables designed by John Keal. In any case it is equal parts rare and beautiful.
Expertly refinished with few traces of prior use.
