The Postimpressionist oil painting on woven natural burlap textile is painted in The Mid Twentieth Century by an unknown artist. The seascape composition is painted in the Postimpressionist style in a gorgeous vibrant multicolor palette. The impasto technique with thick application of oil paint adds luminosity, depth, and a dramatic quality to the artwork emphasizing light and texture. The painting is reminiscent of the works of the great Modern Masters of The Postimpressionist Art Movement such as Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Cezanne, in it's approach, technique, brushwork, subject and color palette.

The painting features a hilltop coastal view with Agave trees of Cape Stupiste, Komiza locate on the western coast of The Island of Vis in Croatia in The Adriatic Sea. The coastline there is marked by bays, coves and natural ports. The town has a Mediterranean climate. The economy is based on framing, winemaking, fishing, seafaring, and in recent times tourism.

The climate allows for 12 distinct types of tropical and Mediterranean vegetation such as the striking Agave trees. Flourishing along the rugged coastlines and near towns like Komiza, these massive succulents are famous for their towering flower stocks that blossom once in their decades-long lifespan. The Island of Vis has been marked as one of the ten most environmentally preserved islands in The Mediterranean by The World Organization for Environmental Protection.

The rare vintage one of a kind framed Postimpressionist painting measures 17 3/8" W X 19" H X 1 1/2" D. It is hand titled on the reverse back side " Stupiste Komiza ".

It is custom framed in a Contemporary Modern natural oak wood matte eggshell finish museum box style frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.

It is in excellent condition. The painting is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age, light signs of handling, and some light to moderate wear.
