Eight slender bamboo/rattan poles form an open cage column, banded by three graduated rings and bound at every joint with beautifully hand-lashed rawhide/cane wrapping — that lashing detail is the whole charm of the piece, and it's crisp and intact throughout. A polished chrome center pole runs the full height inside the cage, mounted on a chrome base plate, so the lamp reads warm and organic from a distance and sharp and architectural up close. Topped with a wide conical (coolie) linen shade that throws a lovely soft, even light.

That bamboo-and-chrome combination is the signature 1970s organic-modern look — equally at home in a Boho, coastal, Palm Beach, MCM, or collected-modern room. Substantial at nearly five feet tall.
