This unique table used to live at 80 Park Ave. (Gramercy Park, NYC). My aunt lived there from the late … Read more This unique table used to live at 80 Park Ave. (Gramercy Park, NYC). My aunt lived there from the late 1960s until 2003. The color is unique, it’s more orange than red, perhaps vermilion best describes it. I selected a shade of the orange family to describe the color.

It comes with an extension table leaf , which measures
32“ x 26“ x 1“.

The thickness of the table top is 3.5 “, making this a very sturdy table.

I could not find an exact match or manufacturer for this piece. It is unmarked and could be from a small ‘batch’ furniture maker.
My research shows:

Solid hardwood construction. The exposed wood grain on the underside confirms the top is solid wood, not veneered MDF.
* lacquer applied after assembly. The painted apron and natural wood underside are typical of higher-end furniture where only visible surfaces are finished.
* Knock-down hardware. The black holes in the apron correspond to the black caps visible on the outside. This is a quality mechanical fastener system rather than inexpensive cam locks.
* Quarter-turn tabletop fasteners. The chrome rotating clips are premium tabletop fasteners that allow the solid wood top to expand and contract seasonally while remaining securely attached. That’s something you’d expect from a well-made hardwood table.
