Offered here is one piece from a long-preserved American quarter-sawn tiger oak bedroom suite dating to approximately 1905–1915. Carefully maintained within the same family for roughly fifty years, the original suite includes a bed, two mirrored dressers, a five-drawer tall chest, and a wardrobe that has been converted to practical interior shelving while preserving its antique exterior. Each piece is available individually, subject to prior sale.
This beautiful American antique dresser is crafted from richly figured quarter-sawn tiger oak and dates to approximately 1900–1915. The dramatic grain, flowing carved mirror supports, and hand-carved fan motifs exemplify the quality craftsmanship of the early Arts & Crafts period.
An original retailer's label from Lit Brothers of Philadelphia remains attached to the back of the dresser. Lit Brothers was one of Philadelphia's premier department stores during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and was known for offering quality American furniture. The label provides an appealing piece of documented provenance while preserving the dresser's historical character.
The dresser retains its original beveled mirror, which displays the subtle waviness characteristic of antique glass. The mirror shows expected age-related silver loss around portions of the perimeter, while the central viewing area remains clear and fully functional.
The case features solid oak construction with hand-cut dovetail drawers that slide smoothly. The quarter-sawn oak throughout displays exceptional ray fleck and tiger-striping, giving the piece remarkable warmth and visual depth.
The finish was refinished approximately 50 years ago and has since developed a mellow, well-aged patina. It presents beautifully while preserving the character expected of a century-old piece.
This dresser is part of a matching five-piece tiger oak bedroom suite, though it is equally striking as a standalone statement piece.
