A French art deco pendant light. Made circa 1930. A wrought iron mounting of excellent quality holds a large bowl in clear frosted pressed glass by the famous glass factories of Verreries des Hanots. It is a model that is never signed yet represented in the old Hanots product catalogs.
Holophane was a large company producing industrial glasses in high volumes, During the interbellum until around 1938 they made high quality lamp shades under the name of Verreries des Hanots and vases and sculptures with their brand name Verlys. Many shades of Hanots are unsigned and therefor unknown to a larger public but together with Muller frères Jean Gauthier (EJG) Degué and Schneider Hanots was one of the five large glass factories making high quality lamp shades in molded-pressed glass.
The chandelier is 73 cm high (28,75 inches) and has a diameter of 45 cm (17,7 inches). It is in very good condition. A small chip on the rim under one of the three arms that hold the bowl. Not visible with the chandelier in place. I have re-wired the fixture with three American candelabra base sockets.
