Looking closely, you can see people conversing and even clothing hanging on a line to dry, depicting the daily life of the local villagers. Signed D Caldwell in the lower left corner, with some markings on the wooden frame that read ' Kanazawa, Japan by Daniel Edmond (Augustus is written below Edmond, but struck out) Caldwell, CF Hong Kong, about 1886. Previously purchased at an Auction in Diss, South Norfolk, England in the 1990s.
