Its shield-like silhouette, gently arched crest, clipped corners, and narrow gilt perimeter give the work an architectural presence well suited to a formal hearth or paneled interior. A fitted metal framework and suspension chain appear on the reverse, allowing the panel to function both as a fireside furnishing and as a decorative wall-mounted object when not in use.

The composition centers upon a substantial classical brazier or footed urn, painted in warm russet, ochre, and muted gold against a deep black ground. Six doves gather around the vessel: several perch upon its rim, others descend with wings extended, and two occupy the foreground platform. Their lively arrangement introduces movement and naturalism to the otherwise symmetrical design.
