Description
This impressive pair of Armor Bronze bookends depicts two daring swashbucklers in mirrored poses, each balancing on one foot while brandishing a rapier and carrying period pistols and swords. Their theatrical stance captures the romance of the Golden Age of Piracy and early Colonial adventure.
Manufactured by the Armor Bronze Company of Taunton, Massachusetts, these decorative bookends were produced using the company's distinctive bronze-clad casting process, giving them the appearance of solid bronze while remaining practical for everyday use.
The original painted accents—including white shirts, crimson sashes and plumes, dark trousers, and warm bronze-toned flesh—remain largely intact despite honest age-related wear, adding authenticity and vintage charm. Their substantial weight and bold sculptural design make them equally suitable as functional bookends or standalone decorative sculptures.
A wonderful addition for collectors of maritime décor, pirate memorabilia, Colonial Revival furnishings, Art Deco accessories, or Armor Bronze collectibles.
