Vintage Moroccan Azilal Berber Boucherouite Rug, Hand-Knotted Geometric Tribal Carpet, Circa 1960s
A striking vintage Moroccan Azilal Berber rug, hand-knotted by Berber women of the Atlas Mountains during the late 1980s. Woven on a soft ivory and cream ground, this one-of-a-kind tribal carpet showcases a vibrant composition of colorful diamonds, lozenges, and abstract geometric motifs in shades of purple, fuchsia, sapphire blue, emerald green, turquoise, and saffron yellow.
Handcrafted using traditional Berber weaving techniques and repurposed wool and textiles, Azilal and Boucherouite rugs are celebrated for their artistic freedom, expressive color palettes, and symbolic storytelling. The bold diamond motifs traditionally represent protection, fertility, prosperity, and the personal journey of the weaver, making each rug a unique work of folk art.
Finished with its original braided fringe, this authentic Moroccan carpet is both a functional textile and a collectible decorative piece. Its vibrant colors and modern abstract composition make it an exceptional choice for contemporary, bohemian, eclectic, Scandinavian, Mid-Century Modern, or global-inspired interiors.
