“Marigold” is a wonderful, funky chicken in orange with black speckles and impressive green and blue plumage on canvas board. Texturely, with great coloration. An outsider painting in an outsider frame. Character and patina for days. By Ruth Arenz.
In a wonderful vintage folk art handcrafted wood frame that is its own work of art. It appears to be made of cedar and maple wood and then the craftsman cut out areas/channels to and added small crushed stone ( turquoise) or possibly dyed sand to make a green accent on the surround. The frame is in good vintage condition with some surface scratches at the left side, and a slight miter corner separation at the top left. There are some “chicken scratches” below her feet.
