An exceptional and remarkably heavy antique ritual altar set. Weighing a substantial 2.4 pounds, this set is hand-cast and hammered from thick bronze or brass with a rich gold-leaf wash. The substantial weight and hand-forged irregularities indicate an authentic piece of liturgical metalwork, likely of Tibetan or Southeast Asian origin.
The 6-inch saucer features a deep, natural patina on the underside with visible casting cooling marks, while the cup stands 3 inches high with a smooth, resonant interior. The gilding shows beautiful "honest wear" where the underlying warmer metal tones peak through, typical of centuries-old ceremonial objects. A significant piece for the serious collector of Asian antiques or high-end metalware.
