French barbotine oyster plate by Faïencerie de Longchamp, Burgundy, France — a form of French majolica with shell and flower embossed design in a mottled amber-brown treacle glaze, and a raised central well.
Marked "Longchamp France" on the reverse. Glaze runs fully to the base, with visible kiln stilt marks on the underside consistent with period firing methods.
Mid-20th century. Purchased from an antique shop in La Ciotat, France.
