These two miniature art glass vases from the Volcano series were designed by glass artist Bertil Vallien in 1981 for … Read more These two miniature art glass vases from the Volcano series were designed by glass artist Bertil Vallien in 1981 for the Kosta Boda Artist Collection.

The vases are made of iridescent, lustrous art glass. Depending on the light, the surface shimmers in metallic, oily hues of violet, blue, gold, bronze, and black, visually reminiscent of cooled volcanic rock, molten lava, or oxidized minerals.

The organic, bulbous shape (Double Bubble) features two interlocking curves at the base, reminiscent of anatomical or biomorphic contours.

Both vases are signed on the bottom and bear their serial number. Both vases have their original labels.

These are two rare sizes with the following dimensions:
