This 18th Century English Oak Joint Stool dates back to the 1700's. The piece is crafted with pegged mortise and tenon joints and features a single plank top resting above a beautifully hand-carved lunette (demi-lune) arcading motif filled apron with fan-like radials that are characteristic of the early English vernacular design. Resting on four baluster-turned legs, each leg is anchored near the base by a peripheral box stretcher to ensure maximum stability. These types of stools were originally meant as everyday seating, today they are frequently repurposed as small side tables and lamp stands. This 18th Century English Oak Joint Stool with its warm aged patina will add a versatile and multifunctional element to all interior styles.
