This example features Mukai’s innovative “first to produce “ foil-stamping process, which creates a dynamic interplay of reflective metallic and matte surfaces. The artist personally confirmed that this work is the late-1980s foil-stamped poster Lisa and explained that it was issued as a limited-time release rather than a fixed numbered edition. According to Mukai, a separate silk-screen serigraph edition of Lisa was later produced in an edition of 380 signed and numbered impressions, along with 35 artist’s proofs.
