The Tlingit are an American Indian group located in southern Alaska and down
through Canada. There is no mark or signing on the piece but it does carry
the distinctive blue color on its eyes that I've only seen on Tlingit works of
art. I do see tool marks, especially on the back, along with other types of
marks that might be artisan type marks.
Skillful carving on this large size totem, very smooth in all the right places,
even the lines on the wings are carved out and painted. And I love those
adorable snaggy bear teeth.
The fish is removeable as are the wings to make for easy shipping. See less
