A handsome late 18th-century French Louis XVI period commode crafted in richly figured walnut and crowned with its original white marble top. Dating to the 1780s, this elegant three-drawer chest showcases the restrained neoclassical styling characteristic of the Louis XVI era, with fluted corner posts, tapered legs, and clean architectural lines.
The walnut displays beautiful natural grain and a warm aged patina developed over more than two centuries. Three generously sized drawers retain their hand-cut dovetail construction and are fitted with brass bail pulls and escutcheons. The substantial marble slab features softly rounded front corners and complements the warm tones of the wood beautifully.
