This iconic glass vase is a masterpiece by one of the most prominent Czech glass designers, František Vízner, who designed it for the renowned Škrdlovice glassworks under model number 7411. František Vízner worked as the chief designer at Škrdlovice from 1967 to 1975, and this specific design from 1974 was one of his final achievements for this glassworks before embarked on an independent artistic career. It was during this independent path that he later gained worldwide fame for his minimalist cut objects made of cast glass. The 7411 series perfectly illustrates Vízner's extraordinary talent and understanding of the material, as he managed to elevate an apparent technological "flaw" of the glass mass—air bubbles—into the primary aesthetic feature and the core element of the entire artwork.

The design of the vase relies on an impressive color contrast created by the demanding technique of cased glass, where a dark green core sharply transitions into clear glass in the upper part of the object. The top third of the cylindrical body is adorned with a distinctive textured wrap that evokes thick foam. In the Czech collector community, this specific appearance earned the vase the familiar and highly popular nickname "Pivo" (Beer). However, in international catalogs and on foreign auction portals, this vase and its matching ashtray appear under the poetic name "Whirlpool", referencing the dynamic motion captured within the glass mass.
