John Stewart (British, 1919-2017) was an acclaimed photographer whose career spanned fashion, portraiture, and still life. After training under legendary Harper?s Bazaar art director Alexey Brodovitch in New York alongside contemporaries such as Richard Avedon, Stewart secured early recognition in editorial photography before establishing his own studios. By the mid-1970s, he became celebrated for his refined still lifes, often printed using the rare Fresson process, which gave his works their distinctive depth and sensuality.
