A stunning and highly collectible early glass perfume bottle designed by René Lalique in 1914 for the prestigious French perfume house D'Orsay. Known as "Roses d’Orsay", this iconic piece features a dramatic maiden-figure stopper adorned with flowers. Complete with matching factory numbers on the base and stopper and the early molded signature.
Designed in 1914, this magnificent "Roses d’Orsay" perfume bottle is an outstanding example of René Lalique's pioneering early work in commercial glass and luxury packaging design. Created specifically for the renowned house of D'Orsay, it stands as a miniature masterpiece of early 20th-century French decorative arts.
The defining feature of this piece is its extraordinary, sculptural stopper, which commands center stage. Standing almost as tall as the vessel itself, the stopper takes the organic shape of an elegant maiden clad in a dress richly embellished with floral motifs, her hands clasped against her chest holding her gown and a bouquet of roses. Designed as a precious, tactile pocket jewel ("hand flatterer"), the translucent glass catches the light beautifully—making it a captivating display piece, especially when illuminated in a cabinet or dressing area.
