Bold vintage "fat lava" vase featuring a flame-like pattern and thick drip glaze; made by dumler & breiden—a high-quality west german ceramics manufacturer. Marked and numbered "36-40" on the base; dates from the 1960s.
"west germany" was essentially a collective term for ceramics produced roughly between 1950 and 1990. Well-known names include roth, carstens, ruscha, jopeko, jasba, and fohr, though scheurich and bay were arguably the biggest players.
