This extraordinary, bulbous studio glass vase is an outstanding example of avant-garde bohemian craftsmanship from the art deco era (c. 1920–1930). Crafted in satin glass, the piece captivates with its vibrant, monochromatic "tango orange"—a monochrome color revolution that radically broke with the floral traditions of art nouveau in the 1920s.
a particular sculptural highlight is the continuous row of three-dimensionally applied glass prunts. These feature a historicist design reminiscent of baroque forest glass motifs, but here they are fascinatingly translated into the geometric modernism of art deco. Measuring 19 cm in both height and diameter, and weighing over 1.1 kg, the vase possesses a powerful, sculptural presence in any room.
the characteristic diamond-etched signature "h" is found on the polished base. This is clearly documented in specialist literature (e.g., hartmann: glass marks lexicon) as the finishing and master mark of the renowned carl hosch manufactory from haida (bohemia).
an exquisite collector's item and a striking splash of color for sophisticated high-end interiors.
condition:
very good vintage condition, commensurate with age. The glass displays a beautiful, even satin finish. No chips, cracks, or significant damage to the delicate knobs or the rim. Minimal, age-related marks on the base.
