Historically, these handcrafted wire pieces were popular in late 19th-century and early 20th-century France. They served functional and decorative purposes in both the home and garden, frequently styled as fruit bowls, bread baskets, or egg gathering stands. The rim features an intertwined, scalloped loop design creating a wide, flared opening. The base is a cylindrical stem constructed of tightly bound vertical and horizontal wire ribbing that opens into a flared, matching circular foot. Made from hand-formed metal wire that has taken on a wonderfully aged and lightly oxidized patina. Unsigned. See less
