This is a genuine Charak Furniture Co. kneehole desk, made in the workshops of one of Boston's most respected furniture makers. Charak was founded in 1919 and became known for exceptional, hand-crafted reproductions of 18th-century American and English furniture, still sought after by collectors today.
This piece is done in the Chippendale style, with cabriole legs, ball-and-claw feet, and a scalloped apron beneath the drawers. It has the original Charak paper label inside, hand-numbered and dated, confirming its authenticity and vintage.
Solid mahogany construction, four drawers, and brass hardware. There's honest wear consistent with age, including some finish wear on the top and light scuffing throughout, but the piece is structurally solid and the drawers all function smoothly. Would look beautiful refinished, or left as-is for a lived-in, collected look.
A great find for anyone who appreciates real craftsmanship and pieces with a bit of history behind them.
