It is a vintage Japanese Satsuma earthenware jar, traditionally used as a biscuit barrel or decorative storage piece. It is characterized by its distinct multi-panel polychrome decoration, which often features intricate figurative, botanical, or geometric motifs. The piece exhibits a classic Moriage-style decorative technique, often recognized by the raised enamel work providing texture. Satsuma ware was historically produced in the Satsuma Province, now Kagoshima Prefecture. This measures 9 1/2” inches by 9 1/2” tall. This jar is in good condition with a small chip on the inside bottom of the jar lid as shown in the photo. It cannot be shown on the outside. See less
