Born in the renowned jewelry hub of Pforzheim, Ruckenbrod studied at the decorative arts school of her hometown before establishing her own master workshop in Ziegelhausen near Heidelberg, where she remained active until 1980. She is historically celebrated as one of the most important German pioneers in the art of matte enameling and modern Stegemaille (cloisonné). Alongside teaching her highly specialized techniques to a new generation, she crafted individual, museum-quality pieces that are incredibly rare and highly sought after by collectors today.
This particular catch-all tray (vide-poche) beautifully demonstrates her signature matte enamel finish. It features a stunning, abstract autumnal decoration composed of stylized trees and leaves in warm, earthy mid-century tones. The textured surface and masterful execution make it a true tactile and visual delight.
