Armin Landeck (1905–1984) – "Stairhall" (Kraeft 104)
Exceptional original drypoint and engraving by noted American printmaker Armin Landeck, titled Stairhall (Kraeft No. 104), signed, dated 1950, and inscribed Artist Proof 6/10 in pencil. This scarce artist's proof is considerably rarer than the standard edition of 100 and represents one of Landeck's most celebrated architectural compositions.
The dramatic interior scene depicts the historic Delmonico Hotel on East 14th Street in New York City, where Landeck maintained his studio for many years. The intricate network of engraved lines and masterful use of light and shadow exemplify why Landeck is considered one of America's finest twentieth-century printmakers.
This impression retains the original gallery label from Platt Fine Art, Chicago, identifying the work as Stairhall (K.104), Drypoint & Engraving, 1950, Artist Proof 6/10, with provenance noted as the Estate of the Artist.
