Don Shasteen Studios … Read more Oh lovely laundress! 1920's Don Shasteen Studios hand painted hanging laundry bag featuring an art deco lady. Don Shasteen Studios was an American company specializing in artistically whimsical home decor. This piece was created with a thick paper board cut out painted to resemble a flapper girl attached by brown shoulder ties to a fabric laundry bag painted with the moniker 'Laundress'. The bag is supported across the back with a flat wooden dowel that resembles a large popsicle stick. The maker's mark is printed at the back of the board. From the Atlanta estate of an art deco collector.

Good to fair condition with signs of age and wear. The painted board shows some marks to the finish. The fabric bag is lightly discolored though overall in fairly clean condition. The bag shows wear at the dowel which has caused holes on each end, please see photographs 11 and 12. Due to the delicate nature of the fabric bag, I would suggest using the piece for decor only...save your washables for the hamper!

In total, the piece measures 37" in length x approximately 17" wide at the base of the bag x .5" deep. The painted board measures 11" tall x 9" wide x .25" deep. See less
