This treasured piece was originally purchased by my great-grandparents in the 1930s and has been lovingly preserved and cared for by our family for generations. Its classic Chippendale styling and rich mahogany finish make it an elegant addition to both traditional and transitional interiors.

A Piece of American Furniture History

Manufactured by the Northern Furniture Company of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, this dresser represents the rare craftsmanship of a high quality American furniture maker. Founded by George B. Mattoon in 1881, Northern Furniture Company grew from a modest operation into a major furniture manufacturer. By 1900, its factory occupied approximately twelve acres and employed nearly 800 workers. Originally known as the Mattoon Manufacturing Company, the business was renamed Northern Furniture Company following Mattoon's death in 1904. The company was acquired by C. Reiss Company in 1916 and continued manufacturing fine household furniture until 1949, when its name was changed to R-Way Furniture.
