The portrait was painted … Read more A 1958 oil on canvas portrait of Norma Carlin Kipness by Julian Courtnay Hunt (American/Florida, 1917-2014). The portrait was painted in 1958 in Jacksonville Florida when Ms. Kipnis was 29 years of age. The subject is dressed in a stylish white gown with a bright red sash and multi-colored handbag. She lived in Florida for many years, had two long and loving marriages, raised a family, and supported charities designed to address social disadvantage. The painting is accompanied by a lovely wood gold gilt frame. Dimensions: (canvas) 36" H X 24" W X 2" D; (frame) 45" H X 32" W X 3" D. The painting and frame are in good condition for their age and use. The painting is signed, with additional notations on the frame's back.

Hunt was an American painter known for his versatility across oils, pen and ink, and pastels. He studied at the Ringling School of Art (now Ringling College of Art and Design). He taught private painting classes and served with the US Air Force in the European Theatre of Operations. He exhibited in numerous venues, including Palm Beach Gallery, and the Palm Beach Society of the Four Arts. His art reflects both his Florida roots and his broader artistic influences. See less
