A beautiful example of early 20th century American Arts & Crafts design by the Heintz Art Metal Shop of Buffalo, New York. This elegant cigarette box features Heintz's patented sterling silver overlay applied to a richly patinated bronze body with an attractive cedar-lined interior.

The domed lid is decorated with an organic hand-applied sterling silver scroll motif, a hallmark of Heintz craftsmanship. The underside is clearly marked with the H.A.M.S. diamond trademark, "STERLING ON BRONZE," and the August 27, 1912 patent date.

Provenance: Recently acquired from a prominent Chicago estate, fresh to the market after decades in private ownership.

Condition:

Very good antique condition. The bronze retains an excellent original patina with no dents or repairs noted. The sterling silver overlay shows tarnish that has been left untouched to preserve originality and allow the next owner to polish if desired. The cedar-lined interior is clean with expected light signs of age and use. The box has a slight wobble when on a flat surface. Please examine all photographs as they are part of the description.
