A Chinese carved cinnabar lacquer vase (converted into a lamp) decorated with four shaped panels of scholars on a mountainous landscape, the background with scrolling floral borders and motifs. The quality of the carving is one of the best from its period (probably late 19th century) and is in excellent condition. It even has its finial which is very rare. It was converted into a lamp sometime later around 1935. It works perfectly as a lamp. It takes a 3 way bulb- which were invented for home use in the 1930’s.
The carving is extremely nice, very detailed and it’s in perfect condition.
