Early 20th century Italian Grand Tour Neoclassical Architectural Model with Agate Burner.
Early 20th century Italian Grand Tour architectural miniature represents a classical temple colonnade. The structural framework is constructed from a combination of carved wood and molded plaster, finished in a muted madder-brown and weathered gray patina to simulate aged stone. The front facade features five fluted columns supporting a simplified, molded entablature decorated with three relief rosettes. Positioned centrally on the dark-painted wooden plinth is a removable, low-profile chalice crafted from naturally banded, carved agate. This semi-precious stone element is historically integrated to serve as a functional incense or resin burner. The entire structure is elevated on four turned wooden bun feet.
