This is probably the best book written about Howard Carter and the discovery in Egypt of the burial chamber of King Tutankhamun

Before the discovery of the treasures of King Tutankhamun, Carter was already an accomplished artist and craftsman with an unpleasant character and an obsession for Egyptian antiquities.

Beautifully written. 201 pages of detail sketches, color photographs and some of Carter’s own Bird paintings.

The book is in good shape but some discoloration from spending time in my home library. Well worth a read.
