Large porcelain vases crafted by gustave asch in the late 19th century. Each vase is highlighted with cascading chestnut leaves and chestnuts in their bugs painted in gold on dark blue called bleu de tours background. The handles are entirely gilded. Marked in gold underneath with a small axe for gustave asch and france (partially erased). Circa 1900 dim: w 8.7 in - d 8.7in - h 23.8in. Dim: l 22cm, p 22cm, h 60.5cm. Literature frédéric gustave asch (1856-1911) was a french ceramist working in sainte radegonde, near tours. In 1890, he deposited his famous mark featuring an ax. Gustave asch was well-known especially for his bleu de tours - a dark blue enamel close to the sevres blue, as well as his empire green. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
